Urban Forest – Great Western Trees
We are delighted to welcome back Paul Wood, author of “London Street Trees” and “London is a Forest” to lead this 2 hour walkshop Exploring the Urban Forest.
On this walk, join Paul on a tour of some of west London’s finest and most mysterious trees on a walk from Ravenscourt Park to Stamford Brook tube stations – the long way round.
As we cut through Ravenscourt Park we’ll see two of London’s official Great Trees, a distinction accorded to just 61 remarkable trees in the city. The Ravenscourt Park duo are very different, and one – a delightfully rotund London Pane – has several myths attached to account for it’s unusual appearance.
Beyond the park, the streets of Hammersmith and Fulham have lots more interest in store including one species so unusual it has no commonly accepted English name. As this walk takes place in November, we’ll see the last gasps of autumn and it will be an opportunity to brush up on winter tree IDs.
Ticket prices:
On-line, in advance £15 if booked by 10 November / £18 thereafter / £20 on the day – please note that on-line booking will cease at midnight on the 16 November.
