Haiku, the 3-line short form poem most associated with Japanese culture, are an amusing challenge to write and recite. Haiku can be read on two levels: literal and symbolic, so a simple description of a scene qualifies as much as a symbolic interpretation. Suitable for complete novices or expert poets, Haiku Woods walkshop will inspire you to compose and recite haiku.

The event was free – booking essential:

Suitable for 16+. Children 12+ must be accompanied (please indicate when booking the number of 12+ children you are bringing).  Some of the route will be on uneven or rough ground, please wear appropriate footwear. Capacity is limited, please ensure you book.  If you turn up without a booking, you will be turned away. This free walkshop is made possible through the support of the Mayor of London.

Intrigued by haiku and want to find out more?  Last year we ran a series of haiku composing and reciting walkshops on the First Thursday of each month – take a peek here.
