Part of London’s 2019 Urban Tree Festival, made possible made possible with support from Trees for Cities, the only UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives through planting trees in cities.

We are delighted to welcome Greg Packman of the Ancient Tree Forum and David Humphries, Tree Management Officer for Hampstead Heath a the Corporation of London to lead a walk to seek out the Veteran Trees of Hampstead Heath


Veteran Trees of Hampstead

Come and join the arboricultural staff at Hampstead Heath and the Ancient Tree Forum for a walk around the heath to discover the wealth of veteran trees. Trees play an important role in cities, from removing pollutants to helping to cool air temperatures. Trees are also important for wildlife; veteran trees are home to a wide range of wildlife species, largely dependent on decaying wood as a habitat. The walk will showcase these fantastic trees and the work being undertaken to save them for future generations.

Joint leaders for this walkshop will be Greg Packman of the Ancient Tree Forum and David Humphries, Tree Management Officer for Hampstead Heath a the Corporation of London.

Start point: Golders Hill Park West Heath Avenue, NW11 7QP Meeting at Band Stand at the heart of the park. Nearest tube: Golders Green Tube Station, Northern Line, Edgeware branch – 15 minute walk from tube to start point

Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear – the ground will be uneven in places.
