A 90 minute taster session to inspire novices on the delights and fitness benefits of Nordic Walking by Sonya Brennan an accredited instructor in the beautiful setting of Beckenham Place Park.
Nordic Walking uses poles in order to add two major benefits to walking. It is one of the fastest growing fitness activities in the UK:
- The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs
- The poles help to propel the walker along – this means he/she works harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!
Want to hear more about Nordic Walking? We interviewed Sonya and she told us about Nordic Walking and her personal journey to become an accredited instructor. You can listen to the interview here.
Beckenham Place Park is the largest park in Lewisham and is undergoing improvements – it contains an extensive range of habitats from Ancient woodland and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
- Nordic walking poles will be lent to those taking part.
- Meet behind the mansion
- 18+ only but accompanied children can join the walk but will not be allowed to use Nordic walking poles.
Please book in advance to guarantee your place. This also helps us be more sustainable, by not over producing notebooks, providing poles etc.
When booking you will be taken to an Eventbrite site
