London Art Explorations are rounding off 2020 with a celebration of light and art. Join Gail Astbury, public art enthusiast as well as practitioner in her own right, investigating artwork that makes the most of light – it is sure to be illuminating as well as fun!.
It probably all began with the Egyptians worshiping their Sun God. We will trip through light and symbolism and draw breath on mosaics. We will worship the sun and the moon, while dipping into illuminated manuscripts, and see how they have inspired Tracey Emin, and others who have written their art in neon.
Under Tier 4 in London, we will take up and and down the Thames, beneath illuminated bridges and brutalist buildings draped in light. With the Museum of “virtual” Walking we will stride out amongst the lights and even follow an illuminated cycle path that honours Vincent Van Gogh. Let’s see off 2020 with a bang – and enjoy some arty fireworks as a finale.
Join us for a bit of fun and a frolic or two into the world of public art.
