Opportunities to celebrate urban trees don’t come along very often, but in 2018 two festivals, derived from local action, did just that.

Hear from the producers of London‘s inaugural Urban Tree Festival and from the Sheffield Street Tree Festival.

Local action and volunteer support are key as is the mission call that rallies supporters.  This Urban Tree Talk is all about how to capture local support for urban trees.  We want to ensure that urban tree festivals become more prevalent and widespread, to seek how we can make them financially sustainable as well as galvanising future generations of supporters.

Presenters already lined up include:

  • Margaret Peart from the Sheffield Street Tree Festival team
  • Carly Hayes from TreeLogga
  • Tunde Morakinyo & Joanna Milewska from Friends of Meath Gardens
  • Paul Wood, author “London Street Trees”and London’s Urban Tree Festival co-producer

Join us at the Urban Tree Talk from 2.30pm-4.30pm on Sunday 7 October at The Place, 17 Duke’s Road, London WC1H 9PY – this is a FREE EVENT, donations are sought to cover venue hire and as a contribution to travel costs – suggested minimum donation of £5 for an individual and £10 for an organisation. If you don’t want to make a donation at this stage, then please register by using this Get in Touch form

Urban Tree Talk is an opportunity for people who have supported the Urban Tree Festival, as well as those working in encouraging, planting and in urban tree husbandry, to come together and share their enthusiasms.  A “show and tell” of their experIence, knowledge and stories and their aspirations about urban trees.

If you have something to say about urban trees or offer advice or support on ways to sustain an Urban Tree Festival, sharing your knowledge, expertise or stories then this is an opportunity for you – simply sign up for the event and complete this Get in Touch form to describe what you want to talk about.  We would like to offer 5 minutes short talks at the very least – 10 slides with 30 seconds per slide – but we may be able to accommodate longer presentations.

Join in even if you just want to come along and listen, and jostle with the Urban Tree Festival in-crowd
