Mindfulness through Movement – creative breakthrough  A 90 minute taster ‘walkshop’ in which you will learn how to live in a present and calmer way and develop a safe and positive approach to your day to day living. The rhythm of our footsteps acts as an anchor to focus the mind which has a direct impact on the brain helping to calm the chatter and to live presently.

The research into the health benefits of living mindfully are vast and growing. It is now known that regular mindful practice releases stress and anxiety, increases positive thinking and is a way of combatting depression. Recent research shows that mindfulness if practiced a few minutes daily increases grey matter and promotes creative thinking. In this ever quickening world it would seem we need mindfulness more than ever before. Mindfulness with movement is a way to calm your mind and increase self awareness and confidence.

A relaxed and fun mindfulness walk will combine some gentle outdoor movement and you can discover how we can live in a more calm and present way. Walking mindfullly is a simple and universal practice for developing calm, connectedness, and awareness. Practiced regularly, such as after a busy day, it has been shown to reduce blood pressure and heart rate. It can help increase positive feelings of well being and help aid sleep and combat stress. The art of walking mindfully is to learn to be aware as you walk, to use the natural movement of walking to cultivate mindfulness and wakeful presence. LCWW_logo

Our feedback with previous participants shows that we all learn in different ways. For some it is the focus of the breath whilst for others it is the on the senses. The event will culminate with an informal group sharing for those who would like to express their experiences.

A small notebook will be provided enabling participants to draw, write and collect memento of their observations, creating their own unique memory of the event.

Our mindfulness events are led by Yoga teacher and health consultant Mel Sutton who has many years of group leadership and facilitation working with many clients to increase better health. She is supported by Walking Creative(TM) Andrew Stuck, Founder of the Museum of Walking and current Scholar in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership at City University, London.
