Part of London’s 2019 Urban Tree Festival, made possible with support from Trees for Cities, the only UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives through planting trees in cities.
We are delighted to welcome Peter Fiennes author of ‘Oak and Ash and Thorn‘ to lead a 90 minute woodland walk in Wimbledon.
London Woodland Walk
Join Peter Fiennes, author of ‘Oak and Ash and Thorn: the ancient woods and new forests of Britain’ on a woodland walk across Wimbledon Common.
The walk is part of the Urban Tree Festival – and we will be discussing the topical issue of woods and trees in cities. Peter will also explore some of the other themes of his most recent book (called ‘extraordinary’ by The Observer and ‘set to become a classic of the genre’): the magic and folklore of woods and trees; conservation; our fear of the forests; and the tragic history of their loss and precarious future.
We will not travel too far, but we will be leaving the beaten track…
Meet Peter Fiennes at the crossroads of Cannizaro Road and The Causeway. If you wish you can purchase copies of his book (and collect it at the start of the walk):
