Join us at our free Flash Story Showcase celebrating the publication of three chapbook anthologies as we congratulate the winning authors, and invite you to listen to their stories.

Earlier this year, we ran a flash fiction competition and creative writing walkshop with acclaimed writing tutor and author, Rebekah Lattin-Rawstrone to mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of Daniel Defoe‘s popular classic Robinson Crusoe (published 25 April, 1719).  Winning stories were selected by Rebekah,  N G Bristow (Senior Lecturer in Directing Fiction at Goldsmith’s, University of London) and Andrew Stuck (Founder of the Museum of Walking) and published in a chapbook called ”Shipwrecked‘, of which the artwork was created by Alban Low and published by Sampson Low.

50 years ago on the 20 July, 1969 Neil Armstrong became the first human to walk on the surface of the Moon – we felt that was something worth marking, and created a unique creative writing walkshop and flash writing completion – unlike the earlier competition where writers were limited to a generous 300 word limit, we stipulated that submitted pieces could be fact or fiction but must be 50 words or under.  The anthology chapbook ‘One Small Step‘ includes 17 unique stories.

To complement Sound Walk September, working in partnership with Placecloud app, we devised a flash completion for factual or fictional stores of 250 words and under, under the theme of Flash #My Landmarks as well as producing audio recordings of the stories read by an actor to be published on the Placecloud app.

Publishing at the Showcase on 20 November

This free Flash Story Showcase is an opportunity for you to meet some of the winning authors and hear their stories, as well as purchase the chapbook anthologies whilst also mingling with the competition judges: Rebekah Lattin-Rawstrone, N G Bristow and Andrew Stuck.

Authors who will be attending and reading their stories include: Amanda Take, Mel Davies, Pennie Hedge, Phoebe Demeger, Ruth Bradshaw, Ned Carter Miles, Andrew Lavender, Carrie Dunne, Helen Ottaway and Moira Tighe.

We are delighted to be working with book loving publican Sue Rose and her team at The Plume of Feathers in Greenwich – the oldest pub on the Prime Meridian.

What3words – is a location finding app – and we’ve been asked to use it – so here goes: //stays.lied.avoid  should get you to the start of this walkshop.
