Continuing our new season of Urban Forest Explorations, to coincide with a new book from Paul Wood: London Tree Walks.  Paul is the author of ‘London is a Forest’ (2019) and ‘London’s Street Trees‘ (one of the Guardian’s Nature Books of 2017) and the Great Trees of London Map (2020). We entice you to discover Arboreal Arrivistes – the story of tree migrants.

Ailanthus altissima

Alien, exotic, invasive are just some of the terms used to describe plants that are a familiar part of our landscape. In this illustrated talk, Paul Wood will uncover the stories of trees from all around the world that have made Britain their home over the centuries. Paul will particularly focus on London on which most of his research has been centred, but the species, and their secret histories he’ll highlight will be unfamiliar to many.

This 45 – 60 minute tour is guaranteed to make you see trees in a whole new way!
