London Art Explorations are a series of walks investigating artworks displayed in outdoor settings in London, devised by Gail Astbury, public art enthusiast as well as practitioners in her own right.

We’ve adapted to the times and are thrilled to be offering a guided public art tour for all to enjoy from home. The tour will be held on Zoom using Google Streetview, and will be recorded too. It will take approximately 60-70 minutes, and there will be a chance to ask questions during the tour.

London’s Paddington, home to the Great Western Railway, St Mary’s Hospital and the Grand Union Canal has always been a terminus for travel.  Sliced through by the Westway, an elevated quasi-motorway, it has never been the easiest place to get around on foot.   Paddington is best know for the Peruvian bear lost at the station, and inevitably, there is fair smattering of Paddington bear ‘art works’ wherever you tread. British Land have been redeveloping the Paddington Basin, creating new spaces, waterfront apartments and hyping the cultural core they plan to nurture here.   They have commissioned artwork from a number of artists, including John Glancy, Sean Henry and Liz West.

Gail Astbury draws on experience of working in and around the Paddington Basin and has an up to the minute knowledge of the area.
