Walking piece details

Duration 20 minutes

Duncan Speakman’s ‘A Song for Fifty Hearts‘ was created for the year long public art project Palace Intrusions in Wells in Somerset. Duncan made a number of visits to Wells to find, record and compose his responses to a circular walk around the Palace walls. The final composition, ‘Song for Fifty Hearts’ was the result of 50 walks around his chosen route. Scroll down to Benchmark 5 on the Palace Intrusions website and follow the link at the bottom of the ‘Press Item’ to download the mp3. The walk begins in front of the Bishop’s Palace, just inside the Bishop’s Eye, the gate into Palace Green from Wells Market Place.

Palace Intrusions was created by visual performer Melanie Thompson and composer Helen Ottaway and produced by Artmusic.
