Part of the first ever Urban Tree Festival, we are delighted to welcome Peter Fiennes author of ‘Oak and Ash and Thorn‘ to lead a woodland walk in Wimbledon.

Join Peter Fiennes, author of ‘Oak and Ash and Thorn: the ancient woods and new forests of Britain’ on a woodland walk across Wimbledon Common.

The walk is part of the Urban Tree Festival – and we will be discussing the topical issue of woods and trees in cities. Peter will also explore some of the other themes of his recent book (called ‘extraordinary’ by the Observer and ‘set to become a classic of the genre’): the magic and folklore of woods and trees; conservation; our fear of the forests; and the tragic history of their loss and precarious future.

Meet at the crossroads of Cannizaro Road and The Causeway at 11.30am.
The walk will take about 1.5 hours.

We will not travel too far, but we will be leaving the beaten track…
